‘Prana’ means energy, ‘yama’ means to control. Pranayama is the source of life that
encompasses the body, and it is the link between the consciousness and the mind.
When your breath starts to wonder, the mind becomes unsteady. If your breath is still,
your mind is still too.
This workshop will focus on the fundamentals of pranayama. Alice will guide you
through some of the main breathing techniques of yoga: cleansing, hot pranayama,
balancing pranayama, meditative pranayama. You will understand the right breathing
technique, which, if you will keep practicing regularly, can create a huge impact to your
thoughts and actions.
There is only one rule to follow: be open minded! Do not believe this will be an easy
workshop: we will not breathe normally, as we usually do, to ‘stay alive’. These
techniques will be loud and noisy! At first you will find them funny to practice, also
because you will be in a room surrounded by strangers, but soon you will get into it and
your focus will be drawn to getting these exercises right. So do not be afraid or
uncomfortable, instead go with the flow and enjoy the process until the very end and I
promise you will see the magic coming true!
Introduction about the pranayama techniques we will work on. Alice will explain you
how you are going to practice it and all the benefits within each exercise.
Practice of pranayama: you will focus on specific techniques that will release your
tensions and make you feel in peace with yourself. Techniques such as Nadi shodana,
Kapalbhati, Uddyiana Bandha and many more…
NB The techniques require physical movements and strong inhalations and exhalations
so be ready to release your emotions and make lots of noise!
3:30-4:00 Meditation with Sound Healing
Pranayama will lead us to Meditation. You will chant mantras several times out loud to
feel the energy increasing within yourself, and, as a consequence, you will be able to
meditate for the rest of the time. The practice will be guided by Anett with relaxing
music. Singing bowls are believed to calm and repair the mind as well as reduce stress
and anxiety, lower blood pressure, improve breathing and circulation, alleviate aches
and pains, strengthen the immune system, and improve the mood of the student.
You will understand the real benefits of pranayama, and you will learn something new
that might change your approach to life. Also, you are going to feel relaxed. And I mean
deeply relaxed! At times, you might be feeling light-headed and maybe a bit dizzy,
particularly after specific exercises, but it will not be unpleasant. Instead, just a bit
