The art of meditation dates back thousands of years, as a practice to calm the mind, relax the body and bring balance to the mind body and soul.
The art of meditation involves focussing our mind away from the everyday things into our own self. The simplest way to start meditation is to focus on your breath, feel the pure air entering your nostrils, making its way through the back of the neck and filling your lungs with life energy. Keep the focus on your breath as you breath out and feel all the negativity leaving your body
Meditation at AM Power Yoga
A guided meditation class at AM Power Yoga has two main elements, focus on breathing and guiding your mind to focus on your own body and breath. Its strange that breathing is something that we have done all our life, yet very few of us have ever focussed on how we breathe. In Yoga, there are a number of breathing techniques: Kapal Bharti, Anulom Vilom, hyper breathing, Yogic breath just to name a few. Each breathing technique has different benefits ranging from increasing our life energy to relaxing the mind to increasing our metabolic rate or aiding our digestive system. Correct breathing techniques can not only help to relax the mind but also benefit our internal organs.
In a guided mediation class, the teacher would guide you to focus your energy on your breathing and the five chakras, bringing a sense of balance between the body and mind.
