The festive season in here!! Christmas parties, meeting with friends, lots of eating and drinking and then nursing the hangover the next day. And the come January and we all would be making new years resolution to eat healthy, drink less and exercise more regularly. A familiar feature that we repeat almost every year.
Why not try something different this year. Try making a few small changes to this Xmas season so that it wont be a struggle to fit into your favourite jeans by end of the month. But make sure you make the best of this festive seasons and enjoy time with your loved ones !!
Take one day off for detox: We all are trying to fit Xmas parties into our busy lifestyle. But one day a week – keep it just for your body and go on a simple detox diet of only fruits and vegetables and lots of water. Water would help to flush out the toxins from your body and a fruit and vegetable diet would ease your digestive system which has been taking a beating from the alcohol and dinners that the party season brings with it.
Cut down on sugar: Enjoy a party doesn’t mean that you have to take three helpings of that yummy chocolate fudge cake. Go easy on processed food and sugar. Cut down portions of carbs including white bread, pasta or rice. If you can, and I know its tough, but go carb free for the month of December.
Be ready to decline party invitations: Enjoyment is not about the number of parties you go to but enjoying yourself thoroughly in the few that you attend. Feel free to decline party invitations for people you don’t know or particularly like the company of. This is one season where everyone understands that you’re a social butterfly and have other parties to attend to.
When in a restaurant order healthy: Swap a large portion of red meat for steamed fish or the extra large portion of fries for a vegetable side. And remember a glass of wine has xxx calories and a pint of bear can have unto xxx calories. So order healthy.
Moderation is the key: We all know it but still not many of us will follow moderation when it comes to drinks at Xmas parties. If you’re having a drink too many, make sure you keep having lots of water. Ideally a glass of water for any drink you may have.
